VR Motion Capture - UE4 Plugin

Bachelors Degree Project

The aim of this solo project is to provide a more affordable and approachable method of capturing body motion for animation creation within games development. Enabling student and independent developers to use the most common Virtual Reality (VR) kits in the market to create motion capture animations is a method that is cheaper and therefore more accessible. Using C++ & Blueprints.

Role: Research, design, prototype, implementation & development, testing.

You finally found the Tomb of Osiris, lost in the blistering deserts. The door closes behind you, as echoes of bursting flames and skittering creatures fill the ruined halls.

Term project for a Game Development course. Hybrid ECS engine using OpenGL and C++ on a team of 11.

BCIT CST Project Practicum 3

Industry Project 3 for BCIT's Computer Systems Technology Program. The goal of this project was to create a framework for a special effects library using Babylon.js for Magnetar Games on a team of 4. Special effects such as snow, smoke, and lava were made using the library to demonstrate it.

Role: Client communnication, design and development.

The goal of this project was to develop a mobile web app on the topic of water conservation. Our team of 5 opted to make a resource management game. Won most creative project award as voted by peers. Made with Cocos Creator. Working on hosting the game again on my personal site!

About Me

Heya! I'm Houman Gholami. Having been born in Iran, then living in Dubai to finally growing up in Canada, I’ve always been fascinated by observing the world. Watching the movement, flow and intricacy of the world around me. Celebrating different people and cultures. Tasting different foods and learning new stories always excites me! I find the enthusiasm people have when talking about their interests beautiful.

I also love imagining the impossible. I am fascinated with building new realities with others and tackling the unique challenges that arise. As a visual person I love going to the movies, exploring games, and photography. I also enjoy kayaking and hiking in beautiful British Columbia. I’ve recently found a new love for D&D and am looking for that first campaign to join!

Recently I have wrapped up my education at BCIT in the Bachelor of Technology (Games Development Option) Program. I'm looking to begin the next step of my adventure! I have experience working solo, and with teams. I volunteer in my community, and I love working with others. I find the challenge of adapting to new environments rewarding. I pride myself in being a fast learner and flexible.

My passion for game development comes from fond memories of games throughout my life. Memories like watching my cousins play before I owned games. Like going to school excited to discuss a story twist with friends or exploring worlds with my little brother. Like connecting with coworkers over a shared love of games.

Ultimately, this is the source of my motivation. I believe games are experiences for everyone. I strive to be a part of the creation of these experiences. You could say it’s where my quest marker points to.
